Floating Harbour, a film production company in Bristol, films in its own studio: interviews, pieces to camera, green screen, product shots, small drama and LED virtual production, with our crew, our kit and our post-production team in the same building. Two studios on a Dutch barge in the centre of the city, a twelve-minute walk from Temple Meads, powered by our own solar array.
Filming in our studio, with our crew
A studio shoot is the right call when you need control: of light, sound, weather, background or time. We bring the director, camera, sound and lighting; you bring the people. The Hold is a black-box studio with green screen and space for a set; the Bridge is a smaller interview studio, meeting room or green room. Both are used constantly for our own productions, which means they are lit, wired and ready rather than empty rooms with a rate card.

Virtual production: take your film anywhere in the world
From our Bristol floating studio, we combine LED screens with production craft. Working with CUBE Studio, specialists in mobile virtual production systems, we create multiple locations in one space, cutting travel and weather risk for more predictable schedules and costs. Their portable LED infrastructure allows us to bring high-spec virtual production set-ups efficiently into our space: a production-led team with proven delivery experience, backed by world-class technical deployment and support.

What is the difference between this page and studio hire?
This page is filming with Floating Harbour's crew and post-production in our studio. If you have your own crew and want the room, lights and green screen, see studio hire; if you want equipment for a shoot elsewhere, see equipment hire.
Is virtual production cheaper than going on location?
Often, once you need more than one location or the weather matters. One set-up can cover several scenes in a day, with no travel, permits or weather days. For a single real location, going there is usually still the right answer, and we will say so.
Can you build a set?
Yes. Pre-configured backgrounds are available, and we design and build bespoke sets for studio programmes and shoots.
How many people can you fit?
Interviews, panels of three or four, presenter-led programmes and small drama scenes fit comfortably. For large casts or audiences we recommend a location or a larger stage, and we can source one.
