Floating Harbour Studios Ltd (trading as Floating Harbour) runs this website. This page says what personal information we collect through it, what we do with it and how to ask us about it. It was last updated on 3 October 2026.

What we collect and why
Enquiries. When you send us a kit list, a hire enquiry or a film enquiry through the site, we receive the details you type in or choose: your name, organisation or company, email address and phone number; for a hire, the dates and the kit you are asking about, or what you tell us about your shoot; for a film, what you tell us about the project, who it is for, when you need it, where filming would happen, the budget band you choose and anything else you write; and, where you choose to give them, how and when you would like us to call you. If you attach a document (a brief, a kit list, a script or similar) we receive that too. We use all of it to answer you and, if you go ahead, to arrange the hire or the job. Enquiries are delivered to us by Netlify, the company that hosts this site, which also keeps a copy, attachments included, in our account with them. We keep them in our own records for as long as we are dealing with you and for the period the law requires us to keep business records afterwards.
Booking requests for The Bridge and The Hold. When you ask to book one of our spaces, we receive your name and email address and, if you give them, your phone number, organisation, kind of organisation, charity number and invoice address, together with the details of your booking: the date and times, the space, what it is for, the number of people, food and extras, any kit you need and anything you write in the message boxes. We use them to check the date, prepare your quote and, if you accept it, to confirm and invoice the booking. We ask new clients for an invoice address at this stage so that we do not have to come back to you for it later. Your request passes through Netlify to Mission Control, our own booking system, which runs on Google Workspace: it saves the request as a booking record and emails it to our team. Netlify does not keep a copy of these requests. Please only tell us about health, access or dietary needs if we need them to look after you on the day; we use them for nothing else.
Email and phone. If you email or call us, we keep the correspondence for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry or job.
Server logs. Netlify records the usual technical details of each visit, such as the address of the page requested, the time, and the IP address of the device asking for it. These logs are used to keep the site running and secure, and Netlify keeps them for a short period. We do not use them to identify visitors.
Films. The films on this site are played from Vimeo and, in a few cases, YouTube. When you press play, your browser connects to those services and they may set their own cookies and collect their own data under their own privacy policies. Nothing is loaded from them until you press play.
The map. The map on our contact page is loaded from Google Maps only when you press Show map; until then it is a picture. When you do, Google may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.
Fonts. The site's typefaces are served by Adobe Fonts (Typekit), which records the page views needed to license them.
Visitor numbers. We count visits with Umami, a measurement service that sets no cookies and does not follow you across other websites. It records which page was looked at, where the visit came from, the country, and the kind of device and browser. To tell one visit from another it uses your network and browser details, keeps only a one way scrambled version of them, and stores nothing that identifies you. We use it to see which of our pages are useful and which are not.
Why we are allowed to use it
We use the details you send with an enquiry or booking request because you have asked us for a quote or a booking, and we need them to take the steps you have asked for before any contract and to carry out the contract if you go ahead. We keep invoicing records because the law requires it. Server logs, visitor numbers and fonts rely on our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website. We do not send marketing emails from these forms.
Cookies and storage
This site does not use advertising or analytics cookies and does not track you across other websites. The kit list you build is stored in your own browser, on your own device, so it is still there when you move between pages; it is not sent to us until you choose to send it. While you fill in an enquiry form, your answers are kept in that browser tab so that a refresh does not lose them; they are deleted when you send the form or close the tab, and attachments are never kept this way.
Who we share information with
We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only with the services named above that are needed to run the site and answer you (Netlify, Google Workspace for our email and for Mission Control, our booking records and diary, and our accounting software when a hire or job is invoiced), and with our own team and freelancers working on your job. We may have to disclose information where the law requires it.
Some of these services store or process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, they provide the protections UK data protection law requires for transfers.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, or object to how we are using it. Email admin@floatingharbour.co.uk and we will respond within a month. If you are not happy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we change this page we will update the date at the top.
