What we collect and why

Enquiries. When you send us a kit list or an enquiry through the site, we receive the details you type in: your name, company, email address, phone number, the dates and kit you are asking about, and anything you write in the message box. We use them to answer you and, if you go ahead, to arrange the hire or the job. Enquiries are delivered to us by Netlify, the company that hosts this site, and kept in our own records for as long as we are dealing with you and for the period the law requires us to keep business records afterwards.

Email and phone. If you email or call us, we keep the correspondence for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry or job.

Server logs. Netlify records the usual technical details of each visit, such as the address of the page requested, the time, and the IP address of the device asking for it. These logs are used to keep the site running and secure, and Netlify keeps them for a short period. We do not use them to identify visitors.

Films. The films on this site are played from Vimeo and, in a few cases, YouTube. When you press play, your browser connects to those services and they may set their own cookies and collect their own data under their own privacy policies. Nothing is loaded from them until you press play.

Fonts. The site's typefaces are served by Adobe Fonts (Typekit), which records the page views needed to license them.

Cookies and storage

This site does not use advertising or analytics cookies and does not track you across other websites. The kit list you build is stored in your own browser, on your own device, so it is still there when you move between pages; it is not sent to us until you choose to send it.

Who we share information with

We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only with the services named above that are needed to run the site and answer you (Netlify, Google Workspace for our email, and our accounting software when a hire or job is invoiced), and with our own team and freelancers working on your job. We may have to disclose information where the law requires it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, or object to how we are using it. Email admin@floatingharbour.co.uk and we will respond within a month. If you are not happy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

If we change this page we will update the date at the top.
