Whitley Fund for Nature

Whitley Fund for Nature is a UK charity that funds conservation leaders working in their home countries across the Global South. Every year since 2020 we have produced the Whitley Awards as a live stream: the first two from our studio boat in Bristol during the pandemic, and every ceremony since as a seven- or eight-camera shoot at the Royal Geographical Society in London. The ceremony is presented by Kate Humble and Tom Heap, and the charity's patron, HRH The Princess Royal, presents the awards and speaks. How we livestream the Whitley Awards

Each year we prepare the on-screen content, including the graphics and the winner films made by Silverback Films and, until 2024, voiced by Sir David Attenborough; the 2026 ceremony included a special film about Sir David's long support for the awards. We run the live stream, film behind the scenes, interview audience members, winners and donors, then deliver an on-demand version of the whole programme and highlights films, alongside winner films, social content and campaign films for the charity through the year.
