ZeroAvia's Mission

My name is Val Miftakhov, founder and CEO of ZeroAvia. At ZeroAvia, we build the future of aviation power plants. We're building new types of engines that will replace fossil fuel engines in all types of aircraft over time. Our mission here is hydrogen-electric engine in every aircraft, and we achieve it by utilizing hydrogen as fuel on board the aircraft.

Hydrogen is the most energy-dense substance, chemical energy-wise, known in the universe. Three times better energy per kilogram than even jet fuel, 100 times better than batteries, and that's why we chose hydrogen as the primary fuel for our power plants. Then hydrogen from the tanks goes into what's called a fuel cell, and that's why we call our powertrain hydrogen-electric, because the fuel cells take hydrogen, take oxygen from the air, produce electricity that drives electric motors that then turn the propulsors, either a propeller or a familiar jet engine fan, a blow fan. And that's how we are going to replace fossil fuel in all kinds of aircraft, starting with our first offering, 600 kilowatts shaft power, going to aircraft that's similar to what's just behind me.

This is a 20-seat aircraft used in a lot of the regional and sub-regional service worldwide, and that's our first target.
