Nova Systems UK
Nova Systems UK designs and builds bespoke systems for Search and Rescue, Police, Air Ambulance and military aircraft, technology that helps save lives around the world. We make recruitment films for Nova Systems to help them attract aerospace engineers: a capability film about the work at their Corsham base, a compilation of the people and projects behind it, and the Meet the Teams series, where individual engineers talk about what they do and why they do it.
It has become a long-running relationship. The Corsham capability film was shot at the end of 2023; the talent campaign that followed ran to 36 films including the social shorts, with a set of short social films for the Filton site added in 2024 and signed off by Nova's teams in the UK and Australia. In 2025 the Australian office asked for clean versions of seven of the interviews, without music or graphics, to cut into a brand history film for the company's 25th anniversary, and we turned them round in three days. When staff changes meant two sections of the capability film no longer reflected the team, we went back to Corsham with a two-person crew, reshot the two interviews in a matching set-up and cut them into the original, together with a new 90-second film.

I love the environment. The people are amazing, and it's really fulfilling waking up every day and contributing to making the world safe. One of the things Nova does is not manage its people. It leads its people, allowing them the autonomy to do what they need to deliver.
If you're going to have a go at something different, this is the place to do it. There's a lot of opportunity here at Nova Systems for people with the right mentality and the right drive and the right motivation. As a company that is expanding, there are a lot of opportunities to develop yourself professionally. In addition to that, there are a lot of other benefits and perks that the company offers, whether it's your allowance for professional development, hybrid working conditions, that flexibility and autonomy that you have.
The thing that I find most valuable of all is that Nova seems like my work family. I am taken seriously. I'm given responsibilities and I also have women colleagues, so I'm not the only one, and that's always very nice to have that environment, that sense of belonging. They really encourage women to be in the industry.
Here at Nova, we run a system where you can dress for your day. As long as you're comfortable and doing your job well, that's what matters. The people at Nova are very intelligent, very open, great people to work alongside. We've got a diverse mix of people from different backgrounds, whether that's people that have had extensive military careers or people that are fresh out of university.
It's a real opportunity to learn from those people. Sharing the core passion, working towards a common goal, it is a great environment to work in. If you're passionate about what you know, if you're keen to be part of a community, if you enjoy a good social life, if you want to join and drive a good culture that's built around professional development, then yes, it's the place for you.

One of the things we say about Nova is that we're big enough to matter, but still small enough to care. Nova Systems is a Part 21 design organisation. We don't just design something and certify it. We also provide a turnkey solution whereby we supply the parts, the equipment, and the installation support to get the modification onto the aircraft, and see projects through from concept, design, certification, and entry into service.
This facility is particularly focused on production and maintenance of parts, providing new parts out to our customers and then taking in any parts that need repairing or maintenance before sending them back out to the customer in good working order. Upstairs we've got the design engineers, both the mechanical and the avionics teams. Important to me is the Systems Integration Lab, which essentially is a mock-up of the mission system that we put into special mission aircraft. We can use it to test the architecture of the mission system and de-risk any integration work that goes onto the aircraft.
If there is an issue that arises in the aircraft, we can do all of the testing and changes in the lab so the aircraft can still run its missions routinely. The facility we have here at Corsham is a major part of the way we manage our risk. The last thing we want is for any parts to get broken or the quality to not be correct. Corsham really enables a facility and a space for that process to be managed effectively.
So we're able to inspect received goods, test them in our Systems Integration Lab and package them to send off to our customer to ensure our parts are of the right quality and quantity. This is a great opportunity for us to grow this part of the business and I'm really excited about the future and what we can deliver here at Corsham.

I think Nova is a fantastic professional environment. It's a place that you come to be challenged in your professional world. So I'm Ronnie Trla. I'm the general manager for aerospace integration, which really means that I'm responsible for the broader team that delivers the aerospace, design solutions for Nova Systems.
My background's really 27 years in the Royal Air Force, predominantly as a pilot, in the air to air fueling and passenger transport roles. And I've been with Nova Systems now for three years. So joined as a consultant and have, have worked my way up to now, running the general manager role Here in the uk. We're a, you know, a small to medium sized company.
Everybody knows each other, which has still got that lovely sort of small company feel and the benefit of that. We all know the people to call when we've got a particular problem. So that is very helpful. So, so I think our line is smart people solving complex problems is genuine.
We quite often see in the designs that we have to come up with tricky problems that, that need solving that don't have an obvious solution. And the real benefit is we can bring together small groups of people that just have a variety of backgrounds and experiences and we can sort of sit down and tackle those problems. And with the diversity of thought in the room, it really helps us to find our way through to a solution. Nova's a great place to come for aerospace professionals.
We will get them involved in our projects from a very early stage, and give them responsibility that's commensurate with their experience. So we will constantly push people, but will make sure they've got the support behind them of other experienced personnel who can make sure that they're not left on their own and will provide them the support that's required. Everybody knows each other. We all go to the company conference on an annual basis.
We have, a number of regular get togethers either in our teams or based on the offices or even as the entire company. So we regularly, socialize away from work as well. And we also keep it light in the office. Peop I mean, people are working hard and we are delivering great products, but we find time to enjoy ourselves around that.
